💖 It’s been a couple of months since the last blog post. A few things I’m doing:
working as a contractor with BELAY Virtual Assistant service. I’m proud of this because BELAY doesn’t contract with just any virtual assistant! As they put it, their acceptance rate “is lower than Harvard’s.” You can, however, still hire me directly for project-based work.
serving as Secretary of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) Central New York (CNY) council
data analysis and report creation for an international technology nonprofit
slide deck creation for an agricultural organization
gardening (Have you seen the documentary Can You Dig This? So good!)
💖 In January, I got the certificate for passing the 6-week TechComm Fundamentals Bootcamp led by Instructor Leah Guren. Much like real boot camp (yes, I was in the military), this course is not easy.
💖 My favorite work-tool these days is https://timeflip.io/. Time tracking has never been so fun (or cool looking).
💖 Platform-wise, I’m looking more deeply into Adobe Framemaker and Oxygen's combo for content authoring and management. See also my “Toolz” Notion template, which is one of my most-searched posts. Notion is free, and this link will allow you to create a duplicate for your own use.
💖 While I’ve been using it less since switching to Quickbooks Self-Employed, this Professional Spending Notion template sure made filing taxes a breeze. As with the Toolz template above, you can duplicate this.
💖 A shout-out as always to TechComm mentor Bobbi Werner, who’s continued offering A+ professional advice even as she continues to recover from a bout with COVID. Every time we speak, I’m struck by her admirable blend of savvy and kindness!
